Al-Fatiha

I once read a translation of the Al Quran. I have long forgotten the name of its author. What stays with me is his comment that Al-Fatiha is seen by many as the essence of the Al Quran. Imagine poetry in a language of song. Imagine what this revelation was to a good man but one unaware. Was Muhammed truly unaware? I do not know the answer to this but it may be true...

Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;

Most Gracious, Most Merciful;

Master of the Day of Judgment.

Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.

Show us the straight way,

The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.
