I wrote previously that centering oneself is illusory. This statement is probably wrong. I find that without the breathing exercise, one's mind can shift around happily without restrait. It is obviously the connection we have with each other but that seems to be not the only source of this mad shifting around. Falling to sleep seems easier if we relax our restraints and let the mind do as it will but is there any benefit. If there is, I am still to discover it.
A small training exercise:
When you meditate, focus on alternative days on the following
1. Vision
2. Hearing
3. Sense of touch
4. The sense of smell
5. The sense of taste.
For each of these, call in what is the sense you are looking for and focus on bringing that sense to yourself. But of course, only when in a meditative state. It takes a few days to bring these to oneself and learn the techniques.
